Yesterday was my every-six-months-until-I-die visit with my otolaryngologist (aka ENT, ear nose and throat doc) to have a tiny camera stuck up my nostrils looking for signs of Bad Things after he found a papilloma during surgery a few years ago. Depending on my mood, he may be referred to as Dr Snot, Noseferatu, or Nostrildamus.
Tomorrow, royalty, a visit to my dentist, and a crown. Thursday, my endodontist, and finishing up a root canal.
    How's your week shaping up?

@jack_daniel - I finally got access to the VA last year (after about 15 years of trying).

So I'm going down the list of things to fix now that I have healthcare.

        I enjoy it! ๐Ÿ˜…

@tinker Finally! Congrats? So overdue. This country (and many others, but especially us) has almost always treated veterans like shit, and it is disgusting.

@jack_daniel somehow what should've been a sad week with a modicum of closure turned out to be absolutely fucking brutal. by the end of yesterday I was so exhausted and defeated that I could barely speak. only continuing on because what else is there to do.

@cmccullough @tinker Ugh, that sucks, I learned early about the VA and our treatment of veterans watching my beloved uncle being neglected and abused by the VA after his WWII combat injuries- which eventually crippled him.

@jack_daniel Had my 6-mo checkup with blood work last week & pleased to see significant improvement in a couple of areas after being more careful about what goes down the ol' gullet for past 6 months. And just started with a new dentist because the old one decided he didn't need to participate with any insurance anymore. Glad he's doing so well!

@krypt3ia I would start work on hardware in the forge, but the smoke is too thick to work outside safely.

@tinker @jack_daniel even though I often hate my health insurance I feel very fortunate that I don't rely on the VA for my care. I've heard so many horror stories that I've never even bothered trying.

@jack_daniel - Yeah, I kept getting auto-denied and I finally got ahold of someone who moved things around for me. Silliness.

What's great is I severed my ACL in Iraq and reported it but was denied care even in active duty (the xrays did not show cartilage tear so they thought i was lying to get out of duty).

I reported it when I got out and they denied me again.

Two years later I was doing construction and tore the meniscus and paid for an MRI out of my own pocket. It detected the torn ACL and I got it fixed with donor tissue.

Come back 15 years later and I see written in my medical records "patient claims he sprained his knee.". Like you sorry mother-lovers. How dare. Hahaha. Proper silliness.

Sorting it all out now. The local VA is amazing. Amazing docs. Amazing care. Grossly and maliciously understaffed. But they do amazing.
