CBC Radio 1 is asking on Cross-country Checkup if Alberta should be allowed to separate from Canada. I support Albertans that want to leave Canada. Just leave all the Treaty lands in Canada.

Alberta was created as a result of the Treaties. It would not exist without these treaties. Alberta is nothing without the treaties that established it

@harold Treaty 10 is the only numbered treaty established after the provinces of Sk & Ab were created. A small portion of the land of this treaty is within Alberta

@pinhman OK. And? …

@harold Not that Ab separtists would argue from a legally sound and rational position...
If the argument that the treaties existed before Ab holds, which it should, they would argue for area within treaty 10?
But none of their positions are rational. Its all about gaming outrage, ignorance and prejudice for political gain.
But that has a long history of success in AB.

@pinhman So they take Treat 10 territory with them? (just joking) . As you say, nothing is rational. BTW, I grew up not far from the AB border in BC. I just don't understand the grievances, other than the tantrums of a spoiled child.

@harold No they don't just take treaty 10, joke taken ...
They would have to negotiate with the treaty 10 communities. And layers upon layer upon layers ... to negotiate. These take decades to resolve, see BC
The separtists in dismissing every just and rational claim would negotiate from the weakest position.
But this would allow them to continue with their political noise and all its willful ignorance.

I listened to part of that. Had to turn it off. Couldn't deal with the absolutely colossal levels of stupidity on display...
