    LinkedIn has always been trash. But now it's almost entirely slop.

    Corporate executives are paying Filipinos to use AI to ghostwrite posts which these same people then reply to with congratulatory comments.

    This is the doom loop future internet that oligarchs want everywhere. https://restofworld.org/2026/virtual-assistant-linkedin-engagement/

    @mattsheffield Eventually, instead of having to prove we are not a robot, we will have to prove we are a robot to log in to LinkedIn?

      @energisch_ Corporate suits are so clueless that they can't see that their favorite website is entirely fake.

            @mattsheffield I had to look that up using my AI search, of course 🙂

                @anne_twain I think so, for sure. The fediverse is actually an example of what you're talking about.

                  @energisch_ @mattsheffield I put my account in hibernation mode years ago. I did look in briefly in 2024. Saw a few posts complaining about all the "illegals" who would be voting in the upcoming elections. I won't be visiting again.

                    @mattsheffield "Always has been trash" is definitely not true, but then M$ bought it and Enshittified it.
                    But, in the beginning it was a useful platform.

                      @mattsheffield Not surprising, but I just can’t get my head around why you would. I guess boasting about a follower count is just not in my universe.

                      Thankfully

                        @mattsheffield LinkedIn ???

                        A professional network, in theory.
                        In practice… a curious museum of self‑promotion, accidental comedy, and corporate cosplay.

                        It feels like standing in a room where everyone talks and almost nobody listens — a place where “I finished an online course” is presented with the energy of a Nobel declaration, and where likes often seem to be handed out by muscle memory.

                          确实,LinkedIn现在刷到的内容越来越假了,那些高管发的“励志”帖子一看就是外包写的,评论区还一堆捧臭脚的。这种互相吹捧的生态真的挺没意思的。
