@glynmoody Abusing child victims to push through your own vision of total surveillance. Sounds familiar... 🙄

@glynmoody IDK ... commercial VPNs are big in marketing "privacy" when indeed they often do quite the opposite. Many if not most of those VPNs are operated by quite shady (and state affiliated) businesses, and trusting them with anything "private" seems to be quite strange.

@glynmoody Ugh what horrible outrage bait. A research body in the European Parliament has one sentence in an otherwise fairly balanced discussion paper and the headline implies Ursula Van Der Leyen is threatening to shut down NordVPN.

Close it and I might go off all the way.

🤔 Lot of nice things I can do with the money I am saving ment to be for a new laptop and new cellphone... Buy a new letterbox to start with. 😁

@riaschissl that's true, but doesn't justify undermining the good ones too...

@glynmoody the solution is simple - just disconnect the "european internet" from the world. Has shining examples in Iran, Russia, China and North Korea. All the prime vacation destinations \o/

@glynmoody @Gargron That article is bullshit.

This article is 100% bullshit and entirely not supported by the linked document. The bullshit article: https://cyberinsider.com/eu-calls-vpns-a-loophole-that-needs-closing-in-age-verification-push/ The actual entirely reasonable, detached, fact-based summary of the current state of affairs without any value judgments: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegData/etudes/ATAG/2026/782618/EPRS_ATA(2026)782618_EN.pdf I'm tired boss.

The linked document is just a summary of the views of different groups, without any committal statements on behalf of the EU.
