The idiology that a government should be run like a business is inherently (and empirically) wrong. Hiring private firms just made everything worse while costing more.The same can be observed here in Germany. The millions of Euros that our government poured into (partially failed) IT projects is baffling.

@pluralistic Or look at privatization. Be it water, railway or whatever system. Once it’s in private hands, the quality gets shit because it then needs to make money and not add value to people’s lives.

@david @pluralistic I agree whole heartedly from the NL, and I tell you a reason: private companies are *not* more efficient than governments. anybody who thinks they are never worked at a corporation, or had their eyes closed. private companies / corporations *look* more efficient, because they have less regulatory mandated transparency... which is softspeak for "they can juke the stats easier".
so yeah, privatising critical infra / running it like a for profit thing misses the point. -
