        @adbenitez Never seen that. Currently have two setups: one with Secure Blue for security stuff, and a testing setup with Ubuntu 25.10 and GNOME(both).

        Not every piece of hardware works the same with Linux systems. Sometimes exotic hardware or even BIOS/EC firmware can cause unusual behavior.

        Pop!_OS is also very stable.

          @adbenitez Debian is stable. But KDE isn't. And no, that didn't change much after Plasma 6...

            @adbenitez It's just the systemd crowd reinventing the wheel, as usual.

              @adbenitez I've experienced this frequently with Debian stable and KDE. Have moved on to fedora KDE where I've not seen this bug anymore.

                @adbenitez
                SystemD, the universal attack surface, was either a terrible idea or an evil idea. ( I was shocked that Debian accepted it. )
                I'm going to look into Devuan &c that allow reverting to old init and plain-text logfiles. But how long can they survive backporting to older APIs?

                    Try #Debian with #EXWM πŸ™‚

                    Kidding. I know, it's not a KDE replacement.

                    (Btw., the term "#stable" in "Debian stable" does not refer to software quality, but to the fact, that the packages won't get incompatible upgrades during a release cycle. The addressee is the more the system administrator than the mere user.)

                      @adbenitez I say the glass is half full there - it's a small miracle that that recovery procedure was helpfully shown.

                        @debacle @adbenitez I know. For Debian to be "stable" (as in software quality) they would have to remove kde plasma from their repos πŸ˜‰

                            @adbenitez I've run Debian stable with the KDE desktop for years and generally found it perfectly stable and reliable. Personally I find it prettier and more usable than GNOME, but other opinions are available.

                            The Nvidia driver can cause problems, and some laptops (power saving stuff) are just flakey whatever you do.

                            I've not seen this on any of my systems, more than a dozen, on a range of different platforms.
