Something I realised this morning : mastodon is full of makers. My feed is bursting with potters, painters, quilters, bloggers, writers, cartoonists, photographers, coders...

Mainstream social media has content creators. But mastodon has the makers.

@kvadraat @beach I was just going to say the same - it is wonderful, I love seeing those posts, seeing what people are learning to make or are making.

@beach 🤫 We could have even more, if many wouldn't still sit on Instagram and Bluesky. Your post could be a treat to get them here ...

@NatureMC I did used to worry about this but I think being off insta for so long (18 months?) and enjoying mastodon so much has made me less bothered about trying to convert people.

Like if someone asks me why I’m not on social media then I explain that I am – just not a social media that they’ve heard of. And we have a chat about mastodon. But never in the expectation they will try it.

It’s just too hard. We can’t fight the billionaires on this one. But we can at least enjoy our oasis!
