My mother's got long covid and has been having a hell of a time using her computer because she can't find the letters on the keyboard.

Today I went and swapped out her Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard (black keys, white letters) for a mechanical keyboard with a set of "gummy bear" multicolored keycaps.

It's night and day. She's typing a THOUSAND percent better. I'm so pleased.

@binsk I took her down to the store and had her find words on packaging until it became very clear that she was getting visually overwhelmed by large blocks of single colors.

Which is funny because for older adults they want to high-contrast everything! It wasn't helping her.

@binsk It does. I was so happy I did a little dance and clapped my hands and scared the dog 🤣

@Researchbuzz that's amazing!! My mother had a brain tumour a couple of years ago and bizarrely could not see the letters on the right side of her keyboard. I now wonder if something like this could have helped! Didn't even know they existed. Thank you for sharing.

@researchbuzz I never thought of color-coding the keys :0 will keep this in the back of my mind if I'm ever helping somebody learn to use a keyboard (or in ur case, make using one easier for them)
