    I see fellow sailors, even professional ones, wrapping line around their hand to get more purchase. This seems intuitive but is super risky, you can damage or crush your hand when the line gets out of control and you can’t let go. Invest in some sailing gloves instead, if you need, and unlearn this habit. #segeln #sailing

      @doc yes, that's one of the first things you learn on larger ships. The forces on the other side could be bigger than yours...

        @doc don't do that. Just don't. Also always have the rope in front of your legs/body.
