As a part of the NLnet foundation grant for Loops, work on AR filters is a milestone to be reached by March (I think it's March). So I'd say that's pretty important.

And it's just a fun feature. Fun features that users will like are definitely a good use of the developers time (even apart from being required by the grant), wouldn't you say?

It's not that different from editing a photo and sharing it. That happens a lot. Where is the harm?

There is literally no difference if you edit a photo to add a filter or overlay text/stickers.

This is just a fun way to add some flair to your video, we only have a few filters like sunglasses and dog ears, I don't see the harm in that.

AR =/= AI. We've had AR filters as long as Snapchat has existed and it was always done on-device. Without that goofy dog filter I probably wouldn't be with my partner of seven years. Those were simpler times.
