    🌞🌿GREEN REFLECTIONS🪞☺️

    looking into
    the newly polished mirror
    the servant faints
    磨ぎたての鏡びっくり下女気絶

For a very brief moment each year Kyūtei Omuro (旧邸御室), an old villa close to Ninna-ji, is open to the public.

It is famed for a table!🤔🪞🌿

In the villa's sitting room is a low table made from a single piece of Chinese quince.
The polished surface perfectly captures the reflection of the lush green garden outside, bringing the cool shade of the trees into the room.

Constructed in 1945, no-one is quite sure who commissioned the Kyūtei Omuro (旧邸御室) or what purpose it served.

The sukiya-style (数寄屋造り) mansion sits in a sprawling 1655m2 parcel of land, and given its proximity to Ninna-ji (仁和寺) many believe there was a connection.

@camelliakyoto I am a bit jealous, it looks like a Studio Ghibli film. 😮

@camelliakyoto Fantastic. I saw a table like that in a Buddhist monastery.

In 1969 the residence was owned by Abe Kihee (阿部喜兵衛), the 4th generation director of a saké brewing company.
He sold it to Yamamoto Mitsuo (山本三夫), father of the current owner Murata Akiyo (村田章代). Mitsuo was the founder of Yamasan sawmill (山三製材所).
