For the love of all that’s good, make sure you leave your passwords to someone you trust after you die so they will delete your accounts.
I am so tired of saying, “this is beyond evil.”
Meta patented an AI that lets you keep posting after you die
Meta was recently granted a patent for tech to keep your social media accounts running using AI if you take a break or die.
Business Insider (www.businessinsider.com)
“If you're no longer posting online — whether that's because you need a break from social media or … you … die — your followers' user experience will be affected. In short, they'll miss you.
The impact on the users is much more severe and permanent if that user is deceased and can never return to the social networking platform," the document says.
To fill that void, Meta would essentially create a digital clone of social media presence…”

You are dead, but it is less creepy to have AI pretend to be you?
Someone mentioned welders for when these asses retreat into their bunkers. Let us weld all the doors and all the vents, then block their social media so their AI bots can post to a vacuum.

@CStamp I don't know...I think it might be nice to send messages to people after I'm dead, even if they're stupid. And yes, *this* is a gimmick...I wouldn't trust Facebook any further than I can throw them. But the general idea of leaving messages for people after I'm dead doesn't seem like such an awful one.
I thought about having a voiceprint file engraved in my tombstone, but that's a pipe dream because there's no way in hell I would ever be able to afford a plot, much less a headstone for it.
(an example of what I'm talking about, and no, you don't have to use 'their' app for it to work; I used VLC on a few of them and it works just fine)

@CStamp Pretty sure that should read "That lets them take over your identity when you die and keep posting as you".

@CStamp It is really fucking weird. Who is the target market for this, and can they be easily identified so as to avoid them?

@CStamp Knowing Meta they sell it as a charming idea to keep in contact with your departed loved ones. But soon you will see more and more ads of your loved ones enjoying *brand name* softdrink and fun holidays, booked with *brand name" in their afterlife. And you can only stop this by paying Meta.

@sinvega @CStamp What's wrong with them? They are fucking psychos with no empathy, who believe they are the kings of the world because they have a big software company (which equals big brain and big *youknowwhat*). They have zero idea how society works, how people work. The only language they understand is money and technology.
And you don't want them to take over control of the world. -

@sinvega Oh, I guess my English is not good enough. I though that "hack" refered to those tech bros.

Fucking hell. No.
As someone who has dealt with a relative who hallucinated their dead family members, with near fatal consequences that were only thwarted due to quick thinking on someone elses part, this is fucking evil.

@art_histories your english is great! It's quite specific slang for a writer who's incompetent or very cynical

@CStamp
I wonder if this can be used (by police) to fight against some kinds of warrant canaries (perhaps not the right term?)Imagine if someone is arrested. The police could then hook an AI into their social medias and nobody would know they were even missing. So a “i stop updating this if i arrested” could be defeated.
The AI hooked into social media could then act as an informant on the arrested person’s friends

also, perhaps worse, CEOs could pull a weekend at bernie’s and create an LLM trained on them to carry out company (or country) decisions after they’re gone, solidifying their rule for (theoretically) eternity.

@brad The idea is that you, as the follower, will have no idea, you will think you’re still interacting with someone who is dead but who you don’t know is dead.

@CStamp at this point the harsh truth is that people still using meta products are complicit in this ever expanding evil and need to delete accounts now not later.
