@bagder wonder what it'd vomit out on me, given I don't use GitHub for basically anything nowadays and avoid contributing to most projects that use GitHub

@bagder some of that data is very cheap to fabricate, especially as it allows contributions to your own repos to generate reputation, there's no real cost to any of the input data, so the bots will just farm based on that methodology.md file

@ity that's certainly a challenge for any kind of system like this...

@andrewnez yeah, that might very well be exactly what makes this not work...

@bagder assuming that they have a GitHub history. What if there is no history? You assume that the user is not a Good Egg by default?

@bagder all the approaches I can think of will either punish/block real newbies or require tracking everyones activity across everything!

I think it misses taking ban status into a account. AI bots that merge stuff into their own repos get a good track record and can probably fool this system, but when maintainers start to block them that should gradually become a rather strong signal it being a bad egg.

@bagder yea
Wonder if I'll start getting yeeted off of GH PRs because I don't use GitHub outside of very rare cases

@bagder you must first gather 100 karma 10 good egg points

@bagder any sort of mechanism won't work on github because capital is the primary interest and you fight against it. First seize the means of production.

@andrewnez @bagder and it will just make things worse. If they stop taking own repos into account, the bots will just create pull requests on a bunch of ancient repos to fix typos. It amplifies the noise.
