(eta: this is one ball of yarn where the color changes one strand at a time. the first color is dark gray, then it changes one strand at a time to a lighter gray, and so forth, until it changes to white. you can see the white twisted into the final shade of gray.)

@aetataureate It's so lovely!
I didn't know such a thing as "gradient yarn" existed. I looked at some web pages and I still haven't quite wrapped my head around the idea. Is this scarf made from a single ball of yarn?

@amenonsen hi, yes, it is one ball of yarn! there are two types of gradient yarn (that i know of). here's a photo where you can see the difference.
yarn is typically made of multiple strands that are twisted together. on the left, the gradient is made by switching out individual strands, one at a time. (the scarf yarn is this kind, you can see some colors are e.g. gray and white twisted together.)
on the right, this yarn is dyed into the different shades of colors.
does that help??
