@grzgrz I turned the lid open with a monitor connected, maybe similar situation

Kidding. I know, it's not a KDE replacement.
(Btw., the term "#stable" in "Debian stable" does not refer to software quality, but to the fact, that the packages won't get incompatible upgrades during a release cycle. The addressee is the more the system administrator than the mere user.)

@adbenitez I've run Debian stable with the KDE desktop for years and generally found it perfectly stable and reliable. Personally I find it prettier and more usable than GNOME, but other opinions are available.
The Nvidia driver can cause problems, and some laptops (power saving stuff) are just flakey whatever you do.
I've not seen this on any of my systems, more than a dozen, on a range of different platforms.
@drajt I used #GNOME years ago and never liked it, I preferred using #LXDE back then, when it was deprecated I switched to #XFCE, then I discovered #KDE when I tried out #OpenSUSE and have never stopped using KDE since then I am pretty happy with it and never had any problem with it outside #Debian
heck even firefox barely works here since some months, the text cursor disappears, the clicks in the browser tabs stop working etc.

@adbenitez there is something seriously wrong with your desktop. Are you using Wayland or X11?
On lower spec boxes I like LXQt, which is Qt based and quite KDE like, but doesn't come with all the bells and whistles.
I've encountered the odd glitch but nothing on the scale you are experiencing.
