        Made it back home from the beach. The price of diesel had gone up $1/gal between my drive down 2 weeks ago and back home today. It’s gonna be like Covid times soon with no one going anywhere.

          @rotopenguin unlikely. Will just make it even harder for lower income people.

              @Viss wow. It was $5.50 for diesel. Regular gas is about $3.60 and premium was a bit over $4 (but varies wildly based on station). A lot of places will be switching to summer blend soon so it’s going to get bad.

              @jerry @Viss It's madness. It's $4.75 here for premium, about a dollar less for regular. I am glad I don't drive. But I am not looking forward to what this is gonna do to the price of food soon.

                  if this drags on and the houthis close the bab-el-mandeb and both hormuz and suez aren't open for days to weeks, along with skyrocketing diesel prices in the US, both intl and domestic shipping are going to grind to a slow trickle. everything is going to be scarce, expensive, or both. going to get ugly indeed...

                        @Viss @jerry

                        It's varies a lot here. There was a fuel station about 10 miles away which is often £0.10 per litre less expensive.

                        Our EV car costs £0.07 x 85KW so £5.85 to fully charge.

                        That will get us around 300 miles. We normally only go to 80% charge unless going on a very long journey 🙂🤷‍♂️

                              The good news is that I managed to fix all the stuff my winter renters broke in my condo before spring and summer rentals get going 😅

                              It’s a bit frustrating how hard they are on stuff. I wonder if they’re like that in their own house…

                                    everything we ship. raw materials, parts, food, fuels, all going to be impacted if the eastern part of the Med is closed off from the Indian Ocean. this will drag for months *after* things calm down.

                                      @jerry This is always what I wonder about people who don't clean up after themselves in the office kitchen. Either you:
                                      1 - are great at home, but a lazy jackass at the office because you can get away with it, which tells me what kind of person you really are
                                      2 - you live like this at home which tells me what kind of person you really are

                                          @Viss @jerry

                                          £ 137.9p for E10 Petrol and £158.9 for Diesel per Litre.

                                          Multiply by 3.78541 to convert to US Gallons 🙂

                                          @simonzerafa @Viss @jerry try $8.22 per gallon for regular. 😳

                                          Good thing I drive an EV and have PV on the roof. But of course inflation will still be sky high soon enough.
