      A train station’s canopy collapsed in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad in October 2024, killing 16 people. The station had just been renovated β€” financed through an agreement with China whose details still remain strictly confidential. For protesters who participated in a massive movement, the collapse illustrates how corruption in Serbia has become an increasingly life-threatening issue.
