Code has made me feel things many times
@cwebber code has made me feel much more proud than any writing I've done in my life

Yes I get it some of you have felt anger and frustration when writing or reading code
Some people also feel anger and frustration when writing and reading books
Honestly learning frequently involves frustration.

@cwebber And well I think here most anger incidentally on both kinds is when it wasn't for the art but for some bullshit.
Like layers of Yes/Maybe-Later dialogs isn't art unless made as a parody, where then it's funny instead. -

@alienghic @cwebber You know, I've not even learned this yet. Learning to use a computer was never exactly frustrating, so I'm "good at it." Programming though? That was always frustrating, so I was always "bad at it." Brains are incomprehensable to me.

@cwebber my code makes me feel like "damn was I high when I wrote this" to "damn I wrote some banging shit"

At some point the adventure time cartoon dropped this piece of wisdom
“Sucking at something is the first step to being sort of good at something.”
It usually takes a while to learn to be good at something, and adults tend to compare themselves when they're just starting out to another adult who's been practicing for years.

@cwebber seriously, though, I understand where you're coming from, but I disagree. Code is mostly utilitarian, even when you're artsy while doing it. Art isn't. Even when it does have an utilitarian component to it, it's never mostly that.

@cwebber as a corpo dev, when I code I literally write a story for those who come after, because the world changes and they need to know what it was like at the time to properly maintain.

@cwebber Are you counting Duff's Device in that?
