@FranceskaMann WTF. I’m not a lawyer, but it seems like basically every time a lawyer filed a habeas corpus petition for anyone snatched by ICE the judge agreed that the person was wrongfully detained and ordered their release. What the hell changed overnight??
Last Friday three panel judges changed section 1226 of title eight. Three states, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana no longer release folks with habeus. The 2 nastiest judges gamed it. They waited until they were both on the same panel. Next step is the 12 panel judge will vote. This is called En blanc. If that fails it goes up to SCOTUS. For now, detainis in those three states, once deported, are out. This will change. But there's a window for the fascism.

luckily, my lawyer friend and I were at the same party on Sunday. He had told me about this at a different event on Saturday. in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana, for now, we can't get people out with habeas. So those states are trying to push people out as quickly as possible. Folks would have to reapply to get back into the USA. We have to get rid of Trump and his minions. The pedophile people. Evil to the core.

My friend got seven people out and they told him about the conditions inside Trump's concentration camps. Dirty underwear, toilets covered in blood and feces, disease, the lights are on 24/7. These are torture camps.Our taxes pay for thousands of human beings to be tortured, starved, not given clothing. We have to fight. We have to get every person back. No one gets left behind. They need to know we're fighting for them. They need to know they are loved.

That's a great question. We here in Minnesota have a few local pro bono lawyers and we also work with the national lawyers guild. The NLG has teams of lawyers on call who help us whenever we need them. My recommendation is to donate to the NLG or ACLU.
My lawyer friend is a corporate lawyer. He sues health insurance companies! Three weeks ago he started practicing immigration law. The strength and resilience of my community humble me every single day.

The 12 jury vote to overturn a panel decision is called en banc, Latin for "whole bench."

I don't know if this is a result of incompetence, cowardice, or what, and in my view we should be grateful TACO is operative because, otherwise, he would just steamroll over everyone, all the time, and however objectively bad things are now, I'm certain they'd be demonstrably worse.
That being said, unbelievably, "the rest of us" still have to worry about electability of Democrats. ↲

@FranceskaMann @rjohnsonmn to be a problem going into the midterms, and probably moreso in the 2028 cycle, particularly if we win in the '26 midterms and have any success at all.
The short-term-memory mindset of many Americans, along with the propensity of far too many to be so-called "low information" voters, and/or thinking "it's all going to work out somehow" or "it's all hyperbole", could easily put *more* Republicans in office, not fewer, and not more Democrats. ❖
