@gvenema @dangillmor bullshit, there would be always options for expressing opinions in anonymous way but main social interaction should be via public face
People like Merz want other people to be subservient to them, after all what else is their privilege supposed to mean? They can't even stand it when someone somewhere on the internet is mean to them and they can't immediately send te Secret Service to their doors
At the same time they don't stand up to people like Musk and address what they are doing to society, because these are their fellow privileged people.
Pathetically weak little men really.

@gvenema @dangillmor false Mertz is an ass but he is doing it because his society demands it because Europeans whom by average are more educated have seen and experienced what anonymous social networks have done to our society and we are tired of the hypocrisy

It's not anonimity that did it, or is doing the harm of social networks. It's the conscious decisions of their owners, the sanctified religion of "shareholder value" above all else, and the shear megalomania of their owners, that makes the social networks harmful.
Is Merz addressing this, and listening to smart people? No, he isn't. He is doing the dumb things that dumb self serving political survival instincts are whispering into his ears.

@PhDgris What a load of hogwash. Germans of all people should know what government overreach and over-identification leads to.
This reeks of Stasi. And we've already seen in the US how easily that can be turned against the people after a single awful election outcome.
Fuck. This. Shit.

So strange that the great dangers online come from the richest people in the world they’re the ones who seem to be building systems that provide the infrastructure for abuse and crime.
