The only time in my life where my job made sense was when I was a street performer. This is a job that has become slowly outlawed across the country, and when I was screaming that we were killing free speech no one would listen. When I warned that moving to a cashless society would make living while poor impossible, nobody cared.
They didn't care about democracy because they cared about the market value of their house. They didn't care about democracy because they wanted to punish the poor.

It is very hard to create art that pleases the masses when you are angry to your core about the ways everyone has actively made your life harder, has wasted your time, has stolen from you, has suppressed your voice. There is a line you can cross in truth telling where it doesn't matter if it's honest, because nobody can hear you. This is bad art. Just as much as pandering art is bad art.

If I don't get a handle on my rage, I cannot help fix the arts. I cannot get a handle on my rage until the arts are fixed.
There is a horrifying truth that I need to hear, that I think a lot of us need to hear: Rage can be revenge, it can motivate you, it can sometimes lift you up when everything else is dragging you down.
But it will obliterate you if you hold it too long. It's meant to be something you grasp just briefly enough to throw like a bomb. Not hold.

@smutmag Art cannot be understandable to people, like abstract art, for example.true

What I'm ultimately getting at is that...somehow, some way...we ARE going to have to find a way to forgive, and be un-tortured by the daily havoc being wrought on our psyches. Or they win. It's just a matter of strategy--not morals.
But no, I don't know how.

@smutmag Me too, but I'll hope for the best.

I know the feeling you're talking about. I'm well into an absurdist/existentialist kind of view to cope myself.
I suspect that surrealism and Dada were reactions to similar situations; perhaps a similar shift may help?
[tone: I can pick up your pain through text, and am offering what I can to help, nothing more, no reply expected]

@smutmag I've noticed this myself - I have far less time/energy for arts and music as I'm constantly processing dealing with the state of the world
I do sometimes listen to music in the car, but in recent times I've had to cut back on that - simply because everyone else around is also angry, because of that they are more aggressive and erratic with their driving, and I therefore have to reduce all distractions in the car..
