@BeateRich No, not at all. Clocks of this kind are basically electric motors.

@drdrang But they do make a mechanical sound, right? And it’s getting louder with time when the mechanical parts gets worn out.

@drdrang Still got one somewhere. But fixing it for DST was always a drag.

@BeateRich There are moving parts, so I’m sure there’s some noise, but I just put my ear against it and didn’t hear a thing.

@jamesfee @dmoren If you’re going to use a TC GIF, you should suggest moving to Hawaii.

@drdrang WeHad one of those growing up but my parents would use it with a single lamp when we were on vacation.

I finally moved from X10 light switches to Insteon. So no sending signals over the Internet just to turn on the light. I stick with it because the Indigo software allow me to make sunrise and sunset to determine lights going on and off plus adds randomness so the lights don’t turn off at 10:05 every night, which makes me feel better when traveling.

@risottobias @lmorchard @TechConnectify Never watched this one. When I was a kid, all electric clocks were like this. Quartz movements didn’t become common until sometime in the 70s, I think.

@jonm I saw that, too. A strong indication of how unintuitive the clock UI is on most microwaves.
