    @ChrisMayLA6
    They are not going to learn the lesson that moving to the right does not give them support. Thay have the opportunity now to become the Labour Party the country needs. They need to change now before it is too late. They are not going to

    @HeatherMJ @ChrisMayLA6

    I understand your frustration. It really does feel like they’re missing the point, moving to the right won’t win back trust or enthusiasm. This is their chance to stand firm in their values and become the Labour Party people actually need. If they don’t change course now, they risk losing that chance altogether.👌

      @ChrisMayLA6

      I think that’s a fair reading. When the Scottish National Party moved into a softer left space, it inevitably stepped on ground the Scottish Labour Party long saw as its own. That overlap was always going to sharpen tensions.

      And from a Green point of view, the SNP’s habit of holding together different factions can look like careful balancing or papering over cracks. For Labour, though, it probably just feels like being displaced from what they still see as their natural role.👌

        The categorical error they are making is in believing that they can rein in the right once they've dealt with the left.

          They're all managerial types, their remit is cracking the whip and keeping the circus on the road.
          Lefties are disorderly and defiant, at least if you're doing it right.

            @Walrus @ChrisMayLA6 New Labour! Third Way! Red Dogs! It was remarkable how the US Dems and Labour sold out in lockstep. Blair/Clinton used to maintain a thin pretense of leftism over their rapacious neoliberalism, but neither party can be bothered to even *gesture* to its base anymore.

            I argue that Labour is now to the right of Boris Johnson's government: climate, economy, immigration, health, and gender scrutiny madness.

            Here's hoping the lot of them fucks off to Dubai, like Spain's ex-king.

                @ChrisMayLA6 They way Labour and the others are taking pops at the greens is good news - shows they are worried. Bring on proportional representation and a multi party system, with whipping outlawed. Oh, and make it a republic.

                  @ChrisMayLA6 @AndrewHenry centrists always say things like this. Here in Ontario, Canada when the Liberal party was about to loose the election instead of fighting the right wing Conservstives they attacked the (slightly) left party, NDP, that was leading in the polls. Three elections later the right is still in power and you basically can’t see a doctor anymore. Sigh.

                      Clearly talking from Labour's POV - the Greens are eating their lunch, Reform are eating the Tories' (broad simplifcation).

                      The Greens may end up replacing Labour, or at least this is their fear

                        #starmer will be pooping his national front knickers.
                        FPTP normally works in favour of the larger parties
                        (I don't really understand why - possibly because smaller parties eat votes that the second in line needs)

                        With honest social media in the mix it might just be that we can turn the country round. I would really love to see honest politics.

                        Since I remember it has been bicker, bicker, tit-for-tat, backbiting, see-saw cross-party absolute SHIT.

                          @ChrisMayLA6 plus ça change - whenever Caroline Lucas was defending her Brighton Pavilion seat, Labour threw kitchen sink at trying to beat her

                          When I was growing up in a Labour household in the 60s & 70s, it was always said that nothing unites Labour like the fight against a Tory

                          Clearly now, nothing unites Labour like the fight against a Socialist - or, indeed, anyone with a shred of principle

                            @Lazarou @ChrisMayLA6 we do but we also need to learn the lessons of 2017-19 and how to do what we can to immunise our movement against the establishment rearguard, which already started with the Fuerhage & Bad Enoch seeking to delegitimise Hannah’s win and lay the groundwork for more voter suppression

                            If Reform get anywhere near power in 2029, I guarantee the Green Party will be proscribed as a terrorist organisation
