Report: 100s arrested defying Palestine Action ban in London.

"The protesters - many grey-haired & frail - were seen being hauled away, while some were led leaning on crutches. A number of the demonstrators were dressed as Suffragettes".

Former Palestine Action hunger strikers were also present. "Look how many police are here, just for elderly people holding placards. It's a joke. The state is a joke”, said Heba Muraisi.

@DrALJONES for those who do not know a Metropolitan Police arrest, it is something completely different from a US Police arrest.
The grey haired “accused” are not put in a neck hold, batoned to a pulp, get a gun pointed at their temple, flattened on the tarmac or violently shoved in the back of the van.
We do not have ICE and do not have a fanatical, allucinating madman for Prime Minister or Minister of Defence.
        Just my twopence.

@DrALJONES It is grotesque. The police seem to enjoy arresting old, peaceful people. They have committed no crimes.

@EdwardCam285 @DrALJONES well it is much easier than actually arresting real hardcore criminals, they might actually get hurt if they did that, I guess it would also mean they will probably end up arresting their own family and friends, as most of the violent and hardened criminals nowadays are part of the far right movement the met support, so the met just seems to concentrate on low-hanging fruit and liberal targets to keep their numbers up...

@Vonskinnback @EdwardCam285 @DrALJONES If they were after real criminals they'd be arresting each other at a disturbing rate.

Bet a few of these were protesting against the Vietnam war back in the 60s/70s. Old habits (and protestors) die hard.

I take your point that they're not flat-out fascist murderers like the untrained thugs from ICE.

Not sure if you recall, though, there was public footage of Met police arresting a woman & dragging her along the road on her back by her clothing, which was literally choking her.

There are definitely some thugs in the Met - as in any police force anywhere.

Police are typically of the school of Just-doing-my-job, which they see as the primary qualification...

@DrALJONES of course there are cases of excess (there are bad apples even in the most godly institutions), but I find that often those cases are amplified and presented as the norm and that is simply not true.
I have huge respect for the British Police that defend its population diligently and mostly with no praise and often with anti establishment propaganda unfairly thrown at them.
