The Sargent-at-Arms blocks Tennessee State Representative Justin Pearson of Memphis from entering a legislative committee meeting about redrawing that state's electoral map — specifically for *the district he represents*. The measure to approve the effective elimination of the state's only majority Black voting district — replacing it with five new majority White Republican districts — follows last week's Roberts-Alito Court ruling abolishing the remaining provisions of the Voting Rights Act.

@terribletowelie Just my reflexive little hot-take: US whitenationalist plutocrats (nazis, if one prefers) way overstepped the line at least as early as November 22, 1963, and certainly again ten years later on 9/11, 1973. History has been effectively blurred, "whitewashed".

(Attempts are ongoing throughout the central & deep South at this moment to reverse the former so-called “Lost Cause” outcome of the American Civil War.)
