@janamarie this reminds me of a time when I knocked the IR filter off my #fpv drone’s camera

@fichek oooh! That looks fantastic! You can try switching the red and blue channel and play with white balance to get pink foliage

@janamarie I’ll give it a try when I’m at my ‘puter.

also, hi, it's me, IR selfies look weird. Not bad, just... weird..

as you can see by the background plants, I hue shifted this to be a bit more natural. If you have seen Dune 2, you might recognize this 'look'. I believe they used an IR modified camera there as well to film the fight scenes on Giedi Prime of the Harkonnen, albeit with a different cutoff filter
@janamarie Oh that's interesting, it really does match that look.

went on another walk with my IR camera from my previous thread. Even managed to catch a few rays of sunlight in between the otherwise grey week.
It continuous to be a lot of fun and I slowly get the hang of focusing correctly! There are some image artifacts and out-of-focus regions at times, but that is okay with this 2011 camera..

The resulting photos also just keep blowing my mind, this is sooo good! Also there are some interesting observations, the concrete in the third photo does not reflect much, if any IR, while the foliage does. This is also something you can feel in the summer, while streets are incredibly hot, trees and grass usually are pretty chill as they do not absorb a lot of IR!

@janamarie picture yourself in a boat on a river....

@antonxy right?? You can probably do some interesting, artsy portrait photography with this

@janamarie awesome photos! Out of curiosity, is the exposure time quick enough that you could do IR video?

@kboyd oh yes, my camera is almost maxing out on exposure time (1/4000th of a second)
-
@loyhena oh that’s a lovely idea, now I need to stay up until the next sunrise..
best of luck
a sunset could do ! (to not have the sky super clouded, in winter you'd have a better luck with sunset, and in summer better luck with sunrise) -

@janamarie could you, when you have the chance, take a photo of a regular TV remote with a button pressed, so I get an idea how bright it is supposed to be? Thx

and there are more tricks we can do with a full spectrum camera!! This photo of a flower contains UV as well, you can clearly see how the flower is much more vibrant and glowy than the other foliage. This is to attract bees and other insects that can also see UV light! So cool!
I ordered a UV filter to just take UV images, hope that that will reveal another vibrant, unknown to me world
@janamarie These are awesome! How does this translate to the sensor's RGB values? Does IR just end up increasing the red, and UV the blue?

@joshg that is a very good question actually. I am pretty sure that IR lifts all channels, meaning RGB up. I don't exactly know whether UV only lifts the blue channel or whether it also ups all channels. I would guess a bit more on the blue channel, but I really do not know what the exact mix here is. I will know a bit more when the ordered UV filter arrives!
