@GossiTheDog - turns out adding a feature consumers didn't ask for - and many are actively turning off - wasn't a great plan and not worth the infrastructure you've devoted hundreds of millions of your shareholders' profits to.

@GossiTheDog my org broke access to the windows store, so I never got the notepad update with copilot, I only ever got the tabs/“keep your tabs when it closes without saving” features which are fantastic.
Thank god vulnerability management isn’t my job.
I never had Copilot in Notepad either. What a profoundly stupid idea to put thoisin Notepad to begin with. Good to see they take back some AI. I am not reassured yet.

This is unexpected behaviour by MicroSlop Corp.
Having seen pulped users routinely ignored by the juggernaut for decades, I can't imagine the magnitude of the pushback against Slop-Integration that would have produced this back-track.

@GossiTheDog What about Paint? Please, tell me they’re taking it out of Paint. Not that I’ll go back to use it on the regular—that bridge has been burned—but this needs to stop. I counted at least 16 different versions of Copilot when I updated a relative’s computer several weeks ago. Deters me from ever wanting to go back to Windows as my daily driver.

I'm quite surprised. Rather than backpedal, I expected them to double down.i think whoever observed that as long as all the promotions/bonuses are already paid, teams won't care about undoing what they already knew was pointless.

There could be an alternative explanation (if the Copilot isn't a local model, I don't know how it works in these cases) - they may take into account that it's too expensive.
