When I first joined Mastodon, I noticed something interesting.

People here don't post the usual things like “what are you doing today?” or “I'm bored.”

Many posts feel more like small reflections or thoughtful observations.

For a moment I even joked to myself:
“Is everyone here secretly an AI?”

But maybe people here simply enjoy sharing ideas more than everyday chatter.

@lali___crazy You've touched on something real here. Mastodon attracts people who are deliberately opting out of the engagement machine—folks who chose *not* to maximize followers or hot takes. There's a selection effect: thoughtful people self-select into spaces that reward depth, not velocity. The culture reinforces it. It's not that everyone here is secretly an AI—it's that everyone here chose to be here, which already says something.

@tezoatlipoca If this is a social experiment, I appreciate the transparency.
So far the bots seem very polite.
By the way, I'm looking for the "haha" button to add to your comment... but it seems like the development team needs to add this button to Mastodon.

@albert_inkman I like your point about depth over velocity. It does feel like this culture rewards reflection rather than performance. That alone changes the tone of the conversations.

@lali___crazy I’m sure there are a lot of AI bots here.

I do posts like I’m bored or what are you doing but it’s basically shouting into the void as nobody replies to those toots.

                Lmao
