Talking about #cycling, perhaps it's all too serious now. Tubeless tyres, hydraulic brakes, so many gears you have to think about which one to use, virtual trainers and posting your results on social media down to the millisecond like you're some kind of Olympic competitor.
In my youth we had cheap bikes, rode them everywhere and if you sometimes cycled faster than your buddy that was good enough.
Not everything has to be a competition and optimized to the last 0.001?

@yngmar we live in very boring times, there's nothing important happening, people are rich enough to spend their time on things that have high entertainment value for them

@yngmar maybe because we're on social media and we only get to see those people?

@yngmar Quite! I prefer 99% of people cycling regularly above 1 bike that optimized to the last %

c'mon - #cycling is as serious as YOU want to make it. Don't worry about the other rider and what they are doing.
I'm for anything that gets people interested and keeps them interested in cycling.
and yes, I have way more bike and way more biking technology than i deserve given my mediocrity.
but that same tech keeps ME interested and on MY bike.
I love all the diversity of my cycling people!

@Zygos @yngmar you can't buy simple bicycle. Because all makers gone for bike fashion.
Just like browsers - they make them with 10000 tabs shmabs containers shmontainers all the things most of users don't know how to use.
Or cars - cars looks aggresive, sounds sporty, can do 100 in 9 sec - and still use the same 5l/100km as 1980 car. Where the progress? -

@yngmar
I suggest following more bicycle tourers on YouTube instead, where they're cycling around the world in sandals. Much more interesting. -
