@ildiavolorosso @pluralistic What if we just fire all the bosses and replace them with bots?
@LordCaramac @pluralistic I've always thought that could work. But since technology is subordinate to the social and economic order, the bots SERVE the bosses and not the other way around.
-
@Steve @ildiavolorosso There is that also.
Establishment such a stitch up.
@NicelyManifest @Steve "We had to destroy the village in order to save Wall Street" has become a recurring meme.
-
@AnnieBuddy @ildiavolorosso @pluralistic Indeed. In a typical year, well over 100 hours of my work is providing private support in use of Canadian government websites.
@deFractal @AnnieBuddy @pluralistic If you think the public sector cannot be held accountable, wait until you meet the private sector monopolies we've created!
Red tape runs both directions

@ildiavolorosso @Steve Clue that this was part of the establishment destination was the endlessly repeated lie that 'the economy' was all important.
It is only so for the rich and powerful.
When do they mention 'quality of life' policies ....?

@ildiavolorosso @AnnieBuddy @pluralistic Yep.
But my support requests for private-sector monopoly websites markedly differ from those for Canadian government websites.
For the government sites, the questions are about barely navigable UX with practically incomprehensible design and copy, but for the corporate websites, the questions are about blocking ads and LLM chatbots, automatically declining all not-strictly-necessary cookies, and overriding dark patterns.

@deFractal @AnnieBuddy @pluralistic I suspect the difference may be regulation and resources then

@NicelyManifest @Steve Careful there, that term is used to police poor people more than it is to empower them

@ildiavolorosso @Steve Why do I need to be careful? What did I say that was wrong?

@ildiavolorosso @Steve Why do I need to be careful? What did I say that was wrong?
@NicelyManifest @Steve Not at all

I've spent so much time seeing cops enforcing "quality of life crimes" against poor people that the term seems to have been coopted. I can see the merit in trying to take it back.

@ildiavolorosso @Steve I agree. I am in the UK so do not see the toxic use you see.
Consider Bhutan ...

https://edition.cnn.com/travel/life-in-bhutan-intl-hnk@NicelyManifest @Steve I would! But that flight in...especially the landing...freaks me out

That said, I suspect you have your share of things going on across the pond.
As flawed as it may seem, Spain is looking awfully tempting right now.

@ildiavolorosso @Steve We have Zionist, Fascist, Starmer and his leadership that is twisting and steering the legal system in any direction it can to protect Israel ...
Spain is getting lots of things right. Like banning phones in schools.

@NicelyManifest @Steve ...and standing up to Cheetoh Mussolini

Spain and Mexico both strike me as democracies on the rise.

@ildiavolorosso @Steve Agreed. All while the Nordic countries remain mostly best examples of how to govern nations.
