A speech-to-text app that spends a lot of money on advertising claims that, using it, you can "write 4x faster" than using a keyboard. Is that…true? I feel like I type faster than I can think, let alone talk. Are there people out there whose ideas flow faster than their fingers?

@jhpot I can type 80-90 WPM, so I don't believe that claim at all.

@jhpot Mostly though, I just feel strange talking to the machine. The same goes for Siri on my phone. I'm behind the times I guess.

@VE3RWJ it feels like you have to work from home to use this tech. Like, can you imagine everyone in an open office using speech to text?

@jhpot Is it a mobile app? Because typing speed definitely slows me down on a phone.

But also: Yes, there are lots of people out there, of all ages, who never learned how to type properly. And some people who have actual physical limitations on typing speed or accuracy.
