@Caiotekit Maybe I'll make a diorama with the snow people on snowy ground beside a few trees with tiny working lights. That would make a lovely winter decoration.

Today I found a large set of felting items for $5.59: fifty small pieces of roving in a variety of colours, dozens of needles in four different sizes, a felting pad, many felting molds and two storage cases to hold it all. A good score for me but I wish I could find the person who gave it away and give them felting lessons so they didn't get discouraged and kept going with it.

@VE2UWY A lot of people haven't heard of felting. When I describe it as sculpting with wool they get a vacant stare. Even when trying to explain how it's done to people, they usually don't understand. It's only when I hand a felted object to someone and have them hold it whilst I explain how it's made that they understand.

For those who don't know what felting is, it is sculpting with wool. Any wool will do: sheep, alpaca, goat, even hair from your dog, if properly prepared. The wool is compacted upon itself using small, sharp barbed needles and eventually solidifies into the shape of your choosing. It can be used to make lifelike animals or whimsical creatures and scenes that don't require turning neighborhoods into deserts or blowing up the power grid. #felting #fiber #art

@LilPecan I was just thinking "Wow, those sunflowers are amazing!" and then I realised from the alt-text that actually there was a felted pig which had been cropped out by the multi-photo program! But the animals are very good, too.

I can't take credit for the sunflowers. They were formed by nature.

@LilPecan I do it by crochet then washing/drying with heat to shrink and tighten. I like to make bowls to hold small things like scrunchies. If I was less lazy I'd take a photo, thanks for yours, and your alt text.
