yahoo news | Trump’s DOJ Shredded ‘Huge’ Pile of Epstein Docs After Death by undefined

Less than a week after Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in a New York jail, a Justice Department report revealed that a Bureau of Prisons “After‑Actions” team shredded “huge amounts of paperwork” from the Metropolitan Correctional Center. The redacted FBI memo describes bags of shredded documents being taken to the rear‑gate dumpster, with an inmate allegedly helping to dispose of them. The report notes that officials from the AIG, FBI, and BOP were present, and that the dumpster was scheduled for pickup on Monday morning, prompting concerns that critical evidence might be lost.

The circumstances of Epstein’s death—officially ruled a suicide—have fueled numerous conspiracy theories. Newly released surveillance footage showed two prison guards walking past Epstein’s cell on the night of his death, later accused of falsifying records about their 3 a.m. rounds, though criminal charges were dropped. Former Attorney General William Barr said he was “appalled” by the death and demanded answers, while the DOJ directed the NYPD to stand down its investigation and asked New Mexico prosecutors to halt a probe into Epstein’s alleged “Zorro Ranch” burial site.

The controversy has intensified political scrutiny of former President Donald Trump, who maintained a long‑standing friendship with Epstein. Trump and his allies have dismissed the released files as a “Democrat hoax,” while his supporters view the partial DOJ release of roughly 3.5 million documents—as well as the shredding incident—as evidence of a cover‑up. The heavily redacted records mention Trump thousands of times, though the White House continues to deny the allegations contained within them.
