@tsrono this is like if Apple TV remade Farscape but still mandated that it look clean and Apple-y

@trashpandaqc lol that's about right!
i went hunting for photos of the controls/consoles of the ship & whatnot, & my god everything about that series has left my brain entirely. i watched all of it in a row some years back, except maybe the last season or so, but i like, i *watched* it - at this moment i don't think i could tell you a single character's name or story arc off the top of my head.
i remember mostly good impressions tho. just....didn't stick, somehow.

@tsrono I watched it recently, it’s refreshing as an adult who finds star trek’s utopia too militaristic and regimented to get into. criminals only, plus Florida Man astronaut! a lot of filler but a lot of weird creativity/insightfulness too.
the sets never at any moment look real, but they’re pretty fun and inspiring on a design level. and I kinda cheered every episode that the CGI got slightly more ambitious.

@tsrono (also yeah the last season + ending special is pretty bad)

@trashpandaqc i do remember the weird situations & skewed approach to the 'future' spacefaring storytelling leading to some interesting ends.
ha 'never at any moment real' is exactly it lol
i remember the CGI being pretty good but maybe spotty at times...TV show budget, so that tracks....but i think the puppetry was always really strong & got better as well.
i probably entirely blocked the last season or something, or just quit paying attention if it was dragging...
