@mastodonmigration @stux @jerry I have lost two mastodon accounts, one was big, because of the arrogance of server administrators.

@censorship is happening in the fediverse.

If someone doesn’t like what you are saying, your account is at risk.

There are de facto, no rules and no protection for it.

This is not a good basis for working together …

    @AndyGER

Sorry you have had a bad experience here. However, jumping in on threads like this to air your gripes may have something to do with why you experience such issues.

To be clear, you are free to use Mastodon however you want so long as you don't violate the rules of your server, but thread jacking and otherwise being a curmudgeon can get you blocked and otherwise isolated.

The point is that the issues you are having may have more to do with your style of engagement.

@mastodonmigration So it is the case that free speech is not provided here.

It’s not about willingly violating anything or anyone.

It’s about the scissor in everyone’s head and how you deal with people.

I can tell you that there are quite some people who had bad experiences here using mastodon. What brought them to Bluesky. I had talks with some of them from all over the world.

Indeed you have every right to free speech, and everyone also has the right not to listen to you. That's the way it works.

Going to block you now. Just exercising the right not to hear your free speech.

          Hey Bluesky users... πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ

Good day to try Mastodon. We won't bite.

Join a server. We call them instances. Here are few great choices:

mstdn.social: https://mstdn.social/auth/sign_up A really great choice! EU based and run by @stux. Cats!

Vivaldi: https://social.vivaldi.net/about Yes, Vivaldi the browser, but you don't need the browser.

          infosec.exchange: https://infosec.exchange/auth/sign_up Techies! Run by @jerry

Or just go to https://joinmastodon.org and pick one. It is hard to go wrong.

@wiredfire @mastodonmigration I absolutely give you that. No problem.

The point is we are all adults and we can act like adults or we can choose to be childish. The last thing is quite often the case here.

So when I for instance, say something, you don’t like you can choose to ignore it or you can answer it in any way you like. And within this conversation, I can however tell you what I do not like either. (1/2)

Right, however as the other person who’s since blocked you noted you’re trying to force that debate into a thread / space that it’s nothing to do with. That’s unlikely to get you in front of the people up for a good-faith conversation on the topic and comes off as combative and / or entitled so becomes something of a self-fulfilling gripe.

I also have an account on fedi.at - it's an Austrian server but it allows toots in English and it has a 5,000 character limit. I have a pixelfed account but don't use it much.

What I have learned here in more than five years is, that communication with administrators, for instance, are very hard to come by.

So tell me, what kind of social network is this? And keep in mind that I am by far not the only person. Quite many tried mastodon in the past and they were scared away.

I for myself may be a bit resilient … πŸ˜‰

From a technical standpoint, the #fediverse is great. But it’s highly immature and for some it is toxic.

For starting an account, it is not reliable as long as you are not willing to host your own server. (2/3)

Or just go to https://joinmastodon.org and pick one. It is hard to go wrong.

Another interesting option is to try Wafrn, a really cool unique application that connects to both Bluesky and the Fedi. Apparently Wafrn has not skipped a beat during these #Bluesky outages.

This is solid advice. Unfortunately, many Bluesky users are not likely to see it, unless they are already here.
