A planned change to Amazon means that if people buy items on your wishlist, it could expose your address. Definitely a threat to people who have public wishlists.

Amazon Change Means Wishlists Might Expose Your Address

Amazon is allowing gift senders to choose items from third-party sellers, which could open recipients up to new privacy risks.

@josephcox A sure fire way to stop the sharing of private information at the hands of Amazon - Stop shopping online at Amazon, and start shopping in person at local stores or shop online from the company that is producing the products you're buying through Amazon. It's really simple. Don't like what Amazon is doing. Don't buy from them.

@josephcox Posted this yesterday. Worth considering. Maybe this stuff added to the news you're posting will get people off of Amazon. Hoping!

            Deleting that now.
It was useful 10 years ago.
But now all I get is "gift certs" for the holidays.

            It served its purpose buh-bye

@josephcox this was a “feature” Amazon had a good few years ago. In 2008 I was challenged by a journalist for an article to see how much data I could gather about her online and what potential harm could I do. Part of the data was her home address. This then helped me get her official birth certificate. Which formed the foundation for me to steal her identity by applying for a passport or driver’s license in her name.

@josephcox Oh. That was literally the only reason why I had an Amazon whislist. I will delete it if those changes end up being applied where I live.

@josephcox A significant category of public Amazon wishlist users missed in the article: school teachers asking parents for supplies.
