    "Personal sites are coming back. RSS feeds are coming back. Webrings are coming back. People are remembering that a website can be a home or a place instead of a profile."

    πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ Give this a read, friends (there's a link to switch to plain text if you prefer).

                @StaceyCornelius not for the general population. But that's actually a good thing. Karens should stay on their Facebook groups.

                  @StaceyCornelius this rings true to me. Neocities has seen a big uptick but, I still think that it's best to just pay the few dollars for the hosting.

                  The setup, all said and done, will be the maximal decentralization that Mastodon users are always touting. So, why not go the rest of the way? There might be some little javascript snippet work left to build out some options for static site interconnectivity.

                  If only the site construction process could rival the social media speed and work-alike

                    @Aaidanbird @albinanigans I've had that happen but then the post appeared. Something glitchy between instances and quote posts maybe.

                        @StaceyCornelius

                        Yesterday while in a trade show booth for IEEE, I met a former employee of Facebook and promptly extolled the virtues of Mastodon.

                            @vonKordke @StaceyCornelius The problem with that is they're extremely vulnerable to corporate manipulation ala Cambridge Analytica.

                            They also can be convinced to vote in ways that affect us here on the fediverse. This is how you get polls where they say 60% of citizens agree to lock down the internet.

                            Billionaire propaganda should concern us all because it affects us all.
