Subverting AI Agent Logging with a Git Post-Commit Hook
I keep hearing from developer friends who are 'expected' by their employer to demonstrate that they're using AI, even for tasks at which the AI is demonstrably a suboptimal choice. So - as a joke - I came up with a git post-commit hook that makes it look like they're doing so, even when they're not.

So the managers will convince themselves that AI tools are efficient and will lay off more humans....

« AI users do not exercise sufficient control to characterize generative AI as a tool used by an author. Instead, the Copyright Office has compared an AI user to “a client who hires an artist” and gives that artist only “general directions.” »

I remember 20 years ago writing code to run in debug windows and I added spinners and progress bars and the folks with OOP responsibilities would ask, "How did you do that?"
I did that from writing DOS programs.
Every step forward we lose a little bit of knowledge. I see LLM as killing off working algorithms for New, 'improved', and untried stuff.

@ploum confirmation biais at play: most programmers I know are not faking because if they don't use AI, lay off is even faster than when they do.
