@makeratschool @rpimag Just with two power sockets so i need power in the room I’m using it in I’m afraid. I need to look into the possible batteries I could power it with, when out on the road. A long train journey is OK as long as I’m near a power socket. You don’t really need external power to the monitor but you get poorer image and sound without. At home I use separate power to pi and monitor because we have solar energy in our large batteries in garage.

@makeratschool @rpimag I’d be interested in your thoughts on how I could get enough current from a portable power source to be able to power both pi and monitor from it.

Actually I have no own experience, but I already tried to find the right numbers. To use USB, HDMI on a Raspberry Pi 4 you 2.5A minimum. For powering the original Pi LCD you can connect it to on off the Pis USB Ports, but that will reduce the brightness to 60%. To get full brightness you to connect it to a separate source.
So the best solution will be something that has 2 USB connectors with min 2.5A output and 10000mAh capacity
