"If you support Trump, DM me."

This is truly a dangerous sign of the times we live in.

Historically, the job of a public prosecutor is to prosecute crime in accordance with the law and without bias. But because so many public prosecutors have resigned over Trump's politicisation of the justice system, the Chief of Staff at the Department of Justice is now trying to hire Trump loyalists to act as prosecutors.

November really is the last chance to stop Trump from driving the US off a cliff.

@randahl It is incredibly amazing that the administration of a convicted felon is looking for people interested in fighting crime.

          @randahl
Historically the Department of Justice hasn't needed to recruit randos on social media to fill its ranks.

@randahl They're already halfway off the cliff. All they need is a little nudge.

@randahl I'm not too familiar with the US system, and while I understand that the public prosecutors in the US are under the control of the President, is trying to exclusively hire prosecutors who support the current incumbent an accepted practise?

                                  fatalism doesn't help

i'm not arguing with the substance of your toot, merely the sentiment

to fix the problem americans need to show the fuck up this november and vote

and to do that, we need hopeful attitudes

so say everything you said, but then emphasize the need for us to get off our lazy fucking asses in a few months

i'm not trying to tone police. it's just that negativity doesn't help now, and we really need entitled asshole nonvoting americans to turn the fuck out

                                      fatalism doesn't help

i'm not arguing with the substance of your toot, merely the sentiment

to fix the problem americans need to show the fuck up this november and vote

and to do that, we need hopeful attitudes

so say everything you said, but then emphasize the need for us to get off our lazy fucking asses in a few months

i'm not trying to tone police. it's just that negativity doesn't help now, and we really need entitled asshole nonvoting americans to turn the fuck out

@benroyce @randahl I appreciate your stance, but I think that putting your hope on November keeping the US from falling into autoritarianism is … not realising that you’ve already crossed that brink. Americans of good will need to get off their lazy fucking asses right now, not wait until November. Yes, November turnout is extremely important, but they need to get up now, or else the results of the November vote will matter less than they’d hoped.
