Ghent University in Belgium is considering withdrawing from five research projects under the European Union Horizon programme due to the presence of Israeli partners.

This move followed a meeting of the university board, where it was decided to accelerate withdrawal from the remaining projects involving cooperation with Israeli institutions, as part of a policy that began in 2024 to review such partnerships.

The university had already begun procedures to exit some previous projects, including the OSTEONET project, following human rights assessments and with approval from the European Commission to withdraw without penalties.
