The family and legal team of 33-year-old Palestinian Leqaa Kordia expressed relief after her release from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following over a year in detention, while noting that the legal battle is not over.
Kordia, a New Jersey resident, was detained during a routine ICE check-in in March last year and held in Pearsall, Texas.
An immigration judge ordered her release for the third time last Friday, after advocacy from rights groups including Amnesty International USA and Defence for Rights and Resistance.
