An Al Jazeera investigation reveals that U.S.-supplied thermal and thermobaric munitions, burning at 3,500°C, have led to the complete disappearance of nearly 3,000 Palestinians.
The report details one mother’s search following a dawn attack on August 10, 2024. “I went into the mosque and found myself stepping on flesh and blood,” said Yasmin Mahani, who found no trace of her son, Saad. “We found nothing of Saad. Not even a body to bury. That was the hardest part.”
Gaza’s Civil Defense has documented 2,842 Palestinians who have ‘evaporated’ since October 2023, leaving only “blood spray or small fragments of flesh.” Spokesperson Mahmoud Basal explained their method: “We enter a targeted home and cross-reference the known number of occupants with the bodies recovered.”
A person is recorded as evaporated “only after an exhaustive search yield nothing but biological traces; blood spray on walls or small fragments like scalps.”
