Bit of a long shot but I’m looking (again!) for a Mac OS9 driver for the FW iSight webcam.

i suspect this is just a generic webcam driver, but it might be worth a try - it might have isight compatibility baked in
@vga256 Thanks. I've tried that one before though. It actually states it does support iSight but I could not get it to work! Still I should try again! You never know

@fergycool that sucks. damn.

@vga256 I'll keep searching until I get frustrated, then I'll put the iSight back into a cupboard until I decide to go look again

@fergycool haha at least you'll remember already having searched for it once.
i usually get frustrated, put it away, and then 2 years later find it on the shelf, and start searching without ever knowing i did it once already

@vga256 I’ve done that a few times. Generally at some point I start recognising “filenames" or "websites" and start thinking “this all feels so familiar!”…

Bit of a long shot but I’m looking (again!) for a Mac OS9 driver for the FW iSight webcam. It was not supported until OSX by Apple. But IOXperts did a beta driver that I'm guessing does support it (I think!). Unfortunately archive.org does not archive FTP and that's the only links I can find. I've been through all the other drivers and it's just “iSight1.1b26.sit” that I cannot find. I've just spent an hour trawling through Hotline servers with no luck! https://web.archive.org/web/20080623093642/http://lists.ioxperts.com/pipermail/video-beta-discuss/2003-October/000015.html
@fergycool I had one of these back in the day and it supported FireWire and Mac OS 9. (Sorry I don't have the driver CD.)

@sethmarinello Great idea! I will do that. Cheers.

@fergycool oh, here's a link.
https://archive.org/details/i-bot-cd-rom@Eggfreckles Thanks. It says it supports the IIDC specification (which supposedly the iSight does too! So I downloaded and installed. But no luck I’m afraid!

@fergycool I believe I have an original driver in my OS9 stuff, I'll look when I get home Friday afternoon.

@fergycool I wrote drivers for Mac OS8. I think OS9 had a similar driver setup, but I don't have an environment to build that code, or I might offer to write it for you. Perhaps someone here can find it. Good luck!

@fergycool I don't have an answer, but I *am* surprised to find out their mailing list is still up even after the rest of their web presence went down! Wonder who's keeping that up.

@fergycool Looks like at least some of their HTTP downloads were archived, which makes me wonder if you could guess the URL of where the iSight driver could have been and find an archived file there? https://web.archive.org/web/20170202203505/http://ioxperts.com/products/dcam_os89.html
Unfortunately I can't get the wayback machine's filter site by file thing to work right now, otherwise that could have been a useful way to find it. https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.ioxperts.com/downloads/*

@misty @fergycool unfortunately, I was able to search the WBM using the filename filter earlier today and the file is most definitely not archived.

@fergycool what Mac are you running it on? From what I recall (I was working on QuickTime Video capture at the time) the FireWire DMA was tricky to get right and the autofocus noise supression would leave sync gaps in the audio.

@misty That did surprise me too! Which makes me think there's hope to find the driver!
