The #BlueSkyOutage is why I still rely on and prefer Mastodon for my social media. I'm on Bluesky, but giving all control to one company is not what I want again. There is always a chance an instance goes down, but not the whole #Fediverse.

@jae to be precise, your user data is on a PDS which can be operated by Bluesky, but also by Blacksky, Eurosky or by yourself. There are also a bunch of different web frontends that you can choose from, in case some web frontend fails. -

@jae I coded the connector between ATproto (Bluesky) and Friendica (a software like Mastodon that speaks the same protocol). That means I took a deep dive into their system. It is interesting. It has its flaws but also it has got some really good ideas that I would like to see in the fediverse. -
