"We should import EV cars from China. They're more affordable --"
"Nooo! Think of American workers! They're only cheap because they make them there!"
"Labor is less than 15% of the car cost? But OK. We should let them make their EV cars here with US workers --"
"Nooo!"
"Why not?"
"Nooo! Only Cybertruck!" -

οΈ@philip @mekkaokereke I wanted an electric car and there are almost no options in the US. Fortunately used Polestar 2s are relatively well priced. Honestly the nicest car I've ever owned. China knows how to make good cars. They're going to do the same thing with EVe the Japanese did in the 70s and 80s with small ICE cars

It's not even Cybertrucks. They're basically done.
Production and sales of F150s and Silverados and Tacomas, on the other hand, is booming. It's going to take decades for the current few years of giant ICE vehicles to age out of the fleet. -

"Nooo! Only Cybertruck!"@mekkaokereke The logical conclusion is that no country with a car industry should allow the import of US cars. Ya know, to protect their own workers.
Imagine the pearl clutching that would ensue. -

οΈKinda feels like american car companies unwillingness to build cars for all market segments means they deserve to be destroyed by the chinese
