  3. @stefano Thanks for the Time Machine blog writeup — I think I've fixed it not working on Tahoe, and a clue was in your post: you had Samba 4.19, I had 4.22, and it turns out 4.22 doesn't work with Tahoe+TM without a patch, now applied :)

@jamesoff great! But I'm also using one with:
      samba423-4.23.4
and it works. Maybe they fixed in 4.23?

@stefano I also moved up to 4.23 but just applied the patch without testing without it and it applied cleanly and works - but yes maybe not needed. I’ll test more later 🙂

@stefano not as glad as I am after spending the money on the hardware for it! 😛

@jamesoff @stefano all I’ve seen on my TrueNAS is that it would not create snapshots on ZFS I was backing up to after the backup was finished due to a samba bug. Was this completely not working for you?

@spitfire @stefano in my case Tahoe could not even start a backup. I’m not snapshotting the ZFS fs with TimeMachine backups on so I guess I wouldn’t see that either way

@jamesoff @stefano nice. I was pretty much always an early upgrader for macOS/iOS (frequently even using beta) but I’m not touching Tahoe. In hope it will come out of beta before macOS 27
