                @nrmacdonald @saltmyhash Accessing a file share using MacOS leaves a .DS_Store file behind in every visited folder. You won’t see them in MacOS by default, since it starts with a dot.

                I think that file stores the view preferences, icon positions, etc for that particular folder.

                        @dec23k @markc568 @nrmacdonald @saltmyhash eh, being able to associate metadata like that is useful, and NTFS (+ others) also supports forks.

                        For that matter extended attributes aren't all that different.
