The results:
Bike - 40min
Bus - 1h 2min
Car - 1h 20minThe bus journey included a 10min walk and was hindered by a lack of bus priority between Knocklyon and Harold's Cross.
The car driver was "lucky to get parking on Stephen's Green" - having to park in a multi-storey and walk to Stephen's Green would have added another 10min or more

This annoyed me though - sat nav companies should not be allowed to do this. It doesn't help with journey times and it only makes residential streets more dangerous and more unhealthy for the people living there.

@ccferrie my brain sees the times and wants to know the total a-b distance each travelled too. Not sure why they’ve not included that bit.

@ccferrie Every time. RTE have been doing similar races since the ‘70s and every time the bike wins by a large margin.
Yet somehow the penny never drops.

@ccferrie And if we had Dutch quality cycling infrastructure, that 40 mins would be more like 30 mins with cycle priority junctions and removal of traffic signals.
It is only 10 kms. Even an old fart like me does that in 25 mins.

@ccferrie Thank you for including three parking time in the race. Parking can take ages, and people often don't take it into account. Or the time to brush the snow off the vehicle before you start to drive, if you live somewhere that gets snow. I'm in Canada, in an area that gets quite a bit of snow sometimes, and there are constantly reminders to take the time to brush the snow off your vehicle entirely, because if it comes off in clumps while you're driving, it's a safety hazard.
Cars are time-consuming!

@eyrea We don't have the snow problem here in Ireland very often but clearing the ice off the windscreen before you start does add extra time during the winter months. Cars are all-consuming!
