SHORT THREAD: 1/4 Nobody else named in the #Epstein files upset me much.

The others brought plenty of anger and revulsion, and some element of surprise, but no shock. These were not people who I held in high regard, or from whom I expected virtue.

But as #ChrisHedges describes, #Chomsky was Chomsky. The pioneering linguist of great integrity who for sixty years had shown us how to think clearly through the dense fog of propaganda. And here he was, down in the sewer with the hucksters and sycophants and paedos.

And yet, I still cannot be angry with #Chomsky. Yes, he let many of us down badly. But in the end, the choice to hero-worship Chomsky was mine. So I'm angry with me for that folly. Nobody else named in the Epstein files upset me much. The others brought plenty of revulsion, and some element of surprise, but no shock.

Thanks to #ChrisHedges for helping clarify the horror.

Noam Chomsky, Jeffrey Epstein and the Politics of Betrayal

I don’t expect much from politicians, corporate tycoons, the presidents of prestigious universities, billionaire philanthropists, celebrities, royalty or oligarchs.
